Referrals
Start Your Healing Here
We understand that healing looks different for everyone—and that the journey often begins with someone reaching out. Our referral process is designed to be simple, supportive, and rooted in cultural understanding. We believe Native youth deserve access to mental health and prevention services that honor who they are and where they come from.
Whether navigating grief, stress, identity, relationships, or simply needing someone to talk to, our team is here to listen and walk alongside you. Every step of the referral process is guided by respect, consent, and care. Our Access Coordinator serves as a first point of contact to ensure each youth and family feels heard, understood, and supported from the very beginning.
Placing a Referral for Services
If a client is in crisis, please reach out to the 24/7 Humboldt County Crisis Line at (707) 445-7715 or dial 911 for immediate assistance.
Counseling Referrals
Criteria for Counseling Services:
- Client must live within Humboldt County
- Client must identify as Native American (registration not required)
- Client must be within the age range of 10-24
- Client must be ready to engage in talk therapy (our services are voluntary)
- Client and/or guardian should consent to the referral being placed
- Clients aged 12 and older can consent to their own services and may not need parental involvement
If criteria is met, to refer someone to our counseling services please complete the Two Feathers Referral Form. Once the referral is received, the guardian or client will receive a call from our Access Coordinator for an initial phone screening within 5 days of the referral being placed. During this call, our Access Coordinator will ask questions and listen to concerns as well as challenges being observed and reasons why services are being requested. After the phone call, the client may be placed on a waitlist depending on availability of our clinical team.
Once there is availability for the referred person to get assigned to a clinician, the Access Coordinator will complete a more thorough phone screening and will schedule a meeting with the guardian or client to complete Intake Paperwork.
