DESCRIPTION:Join Two Feathers NAFS as we screen DOUK\, a short film about a young Native girl who finds herself facing the possibility of being stolen from her home and family\, made by local Wiyot filmmaker Michelle Hernandez. At 6pm\, we will have a virtual conversation on our Facebook Live with Michelle and Douk actress\, Destiny Lewis. See you there! \n  \nAbout the film:\nDouk is a historical fiction drama based in the 1900’s. It tells the story of a young Native girl\, Irene\, who deals with a difficult reality of her and her sister being taken away from their family and sent to boarding school\, where they will be assimilated into the western culture. This means that once this happens\, they will no longer be able to practice their language\, culture\, and traditions. In order to prevent this from becoming a true actuality\, Irene’s parents hatch a plan to save them.\n\nWatch live on our Facebook on January 31\, 2020 @ 6 PM PST
