Two Feathers NAFS is seeking to hire a part or full-time Youth Mentor to work in Eastern Humboldt (Hoopa area). The Youth Mentor works with Native youth, building support systems, connecting them to resources and outside activities. Responsibilities include engaging with Native youth in schools on a drop-in, mentorship basis; reaching out to Native youth for cultural events, community events, and programming; and assisting with prevention- and promotion-based Two Feathers programming. This position works closely with the Cultural Programs and the Leadership Development and Advocacy programs.

Schools where Youth Mentor may work include Captain John, Hoopa High, Hoopa Elementary, and the Wellness Center. Other schools may be considered as well depending on schedule and need.

We are looking for someone who is friendly and enjoys working with youth and who likes to play games and participate in activities. They must be dependable and flexible. Availability after school hours is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience: At least one year prior experience working with youth 
• Current driver’s license, in good standing
• Fingerprint clearance with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Child Abuse Index
• Must comply with a drug-free workplace

Preference will be given to candidates who are Native American.
